"Welcome to my hometown" is the immensely popular portrait gallery that has welcomed travellers to Stockholm and Sweden in the baggage halls of Terminal 2 and Terminal 5 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport for 20 years. A new jury has now been selected to oversee the concept. The jury will be tasked with refreshing and enriching the gallery with high-profile Stockholmers who have made significant contributions to the city in the areas of innovation, culture, sport, business, music, art or design.

The new jury consists of Chair Jonas Abrahamsson, President and CEO of Swedavia, Karl Eklund, Swedavia's Airport Director at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Charlotte Ljunggren, Director of Marketing and Sales at Swedavia, Caroline Strand, Deputy CEO of Stockholm Business Region and Daniella Waldfogel, CEO Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. The first three have a permanent seat, while the other two will sit on the jury for a two-year period.

“The ‘Welcome to my hometown’ portrait gallery is a much appreciated feature at the airport that has been welcoming Arlanda travelers to Stockholm since 2005. With ‘Welcome to my hometown’, our arriving travelers will be greeted by faces that have made a significant impact on Stockholm and all of Sweden. Now we are updating the gallery with even more high-profile residents so that we can introduce them to our foreign guests and make returning Swedes feel proud," says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia's President and CEO.

The jury, which met for the first time on Thursday 6 March, will select a total of four new portraits for "Welcome to my hometown" this year − two in the spring and two in the autumn. Next year, one additional portrait will be selected on two separate occasions. Eligible candidates must meet one of the following criteria: currently working in Stockholm, worked in the city in the past, live in the city, or born in the city. Candidates must have or have had a very significant impact on the region due to achievements in innovation, culture, sport, business, music, art or design. In addition, the candidates' performance must be in line with Swedavia's values: Welcoming, reliable, innovative and committed.

“I feel both happy and honoured to be part of the jury for ‘Welcome to my hometown’. The initiative is a fantastic tribute to the people who have made a significant impact on Stockholm and Sweden, and I look forward to recognising more inspiring individuals who contribute to development, innovation and creativity," says Daniella Waldfogel, CEO Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

“Stockholm is a city full of creative and driven people who see opportunities. To be given the opportunity to highlight those Stockholmers who truly inspire others and contribute to our city's identity and position in the world is not only a great honor, but also important for the city's development and sense of cohesion. Their commitment and efforts really make Stockholm shine," says Caroline Strand, Deputy CEO of Stockholm Business Region.

There are currently a total of 88 portraits in the gallery in the baggage halls of Terminal 2 and Terminal 5. They include popular artist Barbro "Lill-Babs" Svensson, hockey legend Börje Salming, professional footballer John Guidetti, swimmer Sarah Sjöström, singer Zara Larsson and Crown Princess Victoria and her family.
